HC Deb 02 June 1921 vol 142 cc1251-2W
Mr. BRIANT

asked the Home Secretary with what offences Mr. Emmet Fox, who was arrested in London on 22nd May, is charged; what is the composition of the tribunal to which he can appeal; if he is allowed legal advice for his defence; and if he has as yet appeared before any court or tribunal?

Mr. SHORTT

As I have already stated, Mr. Fox is interned on the ground of acting in a manner prejudicial to the restoration of order in Ireland. The Ad- visory Committee consists of the right hon. Mr. Justice Ross, His Honour Judge Robert J. Doyle, K.C., Recorder of Galway, and William Sullivan, Esq., resident magistrate. It would be in accordance with practice to allow him legal assistance in preparing any statement which he might wish to be submitted to the Committee, but he has not asked for his case to be referred to them.
