HC Deb 02 June 1921 vol 142 c1255W
Mr. HANCOCK

asked the Chief Secretary whether the house of Michael McNally, at Walshestown, Lusk, was burnt down on the night of the 8th December last; whether a bull worth £100 and other cattle were destroyed, the total damage being estimated at £10,000; whether any inquiry has been held; and, if so, with what result?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

An incendiary fire occurred on McNally's premises on the date stated, but according to the police report the damage was confined to farm sheds and gathered crops. In addition the windows of an unoccupied dwelling-house in the farmyard were broken and some articles of furniture are alleged to have been stolen. Mr. McNally lodged a claim for compensation at Quarter Sessions in March and he was awarded £1,289. The police have been unable to make any arrest in connection with the case.
