WARDasked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has received a copy of the statement presented to the Chinese 1171W Government at Pekin in October last by Mr. Yourin, on behalf of the independent republican government of Siberia, asking for official recognition by the Government of China; whether the Russian Far East republic had made a similar approach to the British Government; and what is the present position in Siberia?
Mr HARMSWORTHThe answer to the first and second parts of the question is in the negative. In answer to the third part of the question, I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the reply which I gave to the hon. and gallant Member for Central Hull (Lieut.-Commander Kenworthy) on 14th December last, since when the situation has not materially altered.
