HC Deb 21 February 1921 vol 138 c560W
Mr. JOHNSTONE

asked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware of the dispute between the General Accident, Fire, and Life Assurance Corporation and the Guild of Insurance Officials, caused by the dismissal of employés of the corporation because of their membership of the guild; whether on 8th November last the guild, after vainly endeavouring to come to an amicable adjustment with the corporation, ordered the withdrawal of its members from the service of the corporation; and whether he will exercise the powers conferred upon him by the Industrial Courts Act of 1919 with a view to the settlement of the dispute?

Sir M. BARLOW

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on Thursday last to the question by the hon. Member for Clitheroe (Mr. Alfred Davies), to which I am unable to add anything at present. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of that reply.
