HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 c320W
Mr. F. HALL

asked the Home Secretary when it is proposed to introduce a Bill embodying the recommendations contained in the Report of the Departmental Committee on Workmen's Compensation?

Sir J. BAIRD

A comprehensive Bill covering the whole of the recommendations of the Departmental Committee would raise issues of a complicated and controversial character, which would require a large amount of time for discussion, and in accordance with the intention declared in the King's Speech to lighten the business of the Session as far as possible, the Government have decided that such legislation cannot be undertaken this year. The introduction of a limited Bill dealing chiefly with the amount of compensation is under consideration.
