HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 c288W
Mr. JOHNSTONE

asked the Minister of Food whether the Ministry have had a large and valuable stock of bacon in cold storage in America since the beginning of last year; and, if so, the precautions that his Department has taken to ensure that any stock which may have become unfit for consumption is not shipped to this country?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The reply to the first part of the question is in the negative. With regard to the second part, deterioration of bacon held by the Ministry in cold storage in America is guarded against by regular inspection, and, in fact, no bacon so held has become unfit for consumption.
