HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 cc290-1W
Mr. C. F. WHITE

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the Amendment of Section 1, Sub-section (1), of The Agricultural Holdings Act, 1908, contained in the First Schedule of The Agriculture Act, 1920, deprives the tenant-farmer of the compensation for improvements which he was entitled to under The Agricultural Holdings Act, 1908, except in cases where the tenancy was entered upon after the 1st day of January, 1921; and whether, if such be the case, he will at once introduce an amending Bill to remedy this injustice?

Sir R. SANDERS

The Amendment referred to is capable of being construed in the sense indicated in the question. This was not intended, and Parliament will at once be invited to deal with the point.
