HC Deb 22 April 1921 vol 140 c2236W
Mr. KENNEDY

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether the occupation of the garden and pleasure grounds attached to Nos. 18, 20, and 22, Union Road, Clap-ham, London, S.W., was entered upon in 1918 by the Ministry of Agriculture; whether the land in question was put under the control of the local authority for the purpose of being used as allotments; whether the land is now being used for that purpose; when the use of the land is to revert to its owner; what compensation is to be allowed to the owner on account of the disturbance of her interests; and on what basis the amount of that compensation will be fixed?

Sir A. BOSCAWEN

Yes, Sir. The land referred to was entered on for allotments by the Lambeth Borough Council as agents of the Ministry under the Cultivation of Lands Orders made under the Defence of the Realm Regulations 2L. The land is at present being used for allotments. The question of its return to the owner and of what compensation should be paid to her in the matter is at present forming the subject of negotiations between the Ministry and her solicitors.
