HC Deb 21 April 1921 vol 140 cc2083-4W
Mr. LINDSAY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the names of the officers and persons to benefit under a pension scheme framed in accordance with the provisions of Section 52 (2) of The Irish Land Act, 1909, and approved by the Treasury, have yet been submitted by the Congested Districts Board for the approval of the Treasury; if so, when does he expect to be in a position to convey his decision to the Board, having regard to the fact that no real progress towards a settlement appears to have been made since his reply to a previous question in the House on the 2nd November last; whether, if the names of such officers are not approved by the Treasury before the appointed day for the taking over by the new Irish Government of existing officers, the non-pensionable staff of the Congested Districts Board will be ineligible on retirement, compulsory or otherwise, for the benefit of the Superannuation Act of 1909; and, if so, will he give, an undertaking that such officers and persons will suffer no disability by reason of the fact that they have not been specifically approved for pensions on the appointed day under the Government of Ireland Act?

Lieut.-Commander YOUNG

The names of the officers and persons employed by the Congested Districts Board who will benefit under the pension scheme framed in accordance with Section 52 (2) of the Irish Land Act, 1909, have not yet been submitted to the Treasury. I am informed, however, that the list is now ready, and I will give instructions that a decision be conveyed to the Board with the least possible delay after the list is received.
