§ Dr. MACNAMARAI have been asked to reply. Statistics are not available as to the relative levels of cost of living in the different coal-mining districts. The cost of living statistics ordinarily prepared by the Ministry of Labour are designed950W only to show the percentage increase, since July, 1914, for the United Kingdom taken as a whole, and it is impracticable without detailed local investigation, to give separate figures for various districts.
