HC Deb 07 April 1921 vol 140 c479W
Mr. LAWSON

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the War Office to whom the £160 was paid as compensation for the taking over and working of the quarry at Herston, near Swanage; whether any stone was left in the quarry; and, if so, how it has been disposed of, to whom, and at what price?

Lieut.-Colonel STANLEY

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to his question on this subject on 23rd March last. The compensation was paid to Messrs. Parsons and Hayter, who are the owners of the quarry. There was an accumulation of stone at the quarry, which was disposed of to the owners at a price of 2s. 6d. a ton, the sale being one of the terms of settlement for the handing back of the quarry.
