HC Deb 07 April 1921 vol 140 cc476-7W
Sir R. NEWMAN

asked the Minister of Transport whether he has received communications from the London County Council, the Association of Municipal Corporations, and other important bodies, urging the re-introduction of the Electricity Supply (No. 2) Bill, which was withdrawn last Session?

Mr. NEAL

Yes, Sir, my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport has received communications from the London County Council, the Association of Municipal Corporations, and other bodies, urging the reintroduction of the Electricity Supply Bill. The Government fully realises the necessity for this Bill, and it is hoped that it may be possible to introduce it at an early date.

Sir A. WARREN

asked the Minister of Transport whether it is proposed to re-introduce the Electricity Supply (No. 2) Bill, as promised when the Bill was withdrawn last Session; and, if so, whether the necessary powers will be given to joint electricity authorities under the Bill to borrow money by the usual methods, and to authorise undertakers to render financial assistance to them by loans or otherwise?

Mr. NEAL

I have replied to the first part of this question in my preceding answer. As regards the second part, the answer is in the affirmative.
