HC Deb 07 April 1921 vol 140 c466W
Mr. W. SMITH

asked the Prime Minister whether he personally received a Report regarding the raid upon the house of Bishop Fogarty; and whether that Report was of such a character that he issued instructions for the special protection of the life of the Bishop?

The PRIME MINISTER

It was reported to me and to my right hon. Friend the Chief Secretary for Ireland that the house of the Most Rev. Dr. Fogarty had been raided by unknown men in December last, and instructions were at once issued to the police that every step was to be taken with a view to the reverend gentleman s protection.
