Major BARNESasked the President of the Board of Trade (1) whether the Reparations Act will apply to the German stocks already in this country but unsold;
(2) whether the 50 per cent. under the Reparation Act will apply to goods bought by merchants in this country from a German firm for shipment from a German port to a foreign port not belonging to England?
§ Sir P. LLOYD-GREAMEThe German Reparation (Recovery) Act applies only to goods imported into the United Kingdom after 31st March. It does not apply to goods financed in the United Kingdom and shipped from Germany to a foreign country, either direct or after transit through or transhipment in this country.
