HC Deb 04 April 1921 vol 140 c34W
Captain BOWYER

asked the Minister of Labour what is the number of ex-service men to date who have applied for help to the Military Service (Civil Liabilities) Department; how many applications have been successful; and how many, if any, are still outstanding, waiting adjudication; and how many of these applications were received in 1919, 1920, and 1921, respectively?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The number of applications received by the Civil Liabilities Department under the Resettlement Scheme from ex-service men is 262,396. Of this number grants have been made in 102,009 cases, and there are at present 7,050 applications upon which final action has not yet been taken. The reasons for a large number of these being still outstanding are that the applicants are either unable to obtain premises or are still on treatment. The number of applications received in 1919 was 123,162; in 1920, 125,663; in 1921, to 31st March, 13,571.
