Major HENDERSONasked the Minister of Labour whether he is aware that Sergeant G. Roy was awarded some time ago a civil liability grant under No. X.D. 32544/3, D.S.E./41, and that it was stated on the 10th September that a provisional grant of £40 had already been made and the balance would be paid as soon as premises had been taken; that the Ministry was informed on the 1st October that Sergeant Roy had as yet received no money, and that to this letter no reply has been received beyond an acknowledgment; and whether he will take steps to expedite a settlement of this non-commissioned officer's claim without further delay?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAI find that a provisional grant of £40 was made to Sergeant G. Roy at the end of August last, and that the Glasgow War Pensions Committee was informed of this on 3rd September. The grant was made conditionally on Sergeant Roy producing evidence that he had obtained the requisite business premises, but I understand that this evidence has not yet been furnished.
