Captain COOTEasked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that since the abolition of the Marshland Local War Pensions Committee no pensioner in Walsoken has received any pension whatever: that this hold-up has now lasted for over two weeks; that all the documents are lying still in the office of the late secretary of the Marshland Committee; and what steps can he take to secure an immediate resumption of payment?
§ Major TRYONMy right hon. Friend has caused immediate inquiry to be made into this matter, but a report is not yet to hand. He will, however, communicate with the hon. and gallant Member as1352W soon as he is in a position to do so. I may, however, remind my hon. Friend that pensions are not paid through local war pensions committees, and I do not understand, therefore, how there can have been a complete interruption of all pensions in Walsoken.
