HC Deb 30 November 1920 vol 135 cc1137-8W
Colonel ROUNDELL

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that, in spite of the fact that officers of the Indian Army Reserve, as also certain officers of the Indian Regular Army, have received a War gratuity for the period of their service in the civil administration of Mesopotamia, officers of the British Army similarly employed in the civil administration of Mesopotamia have not received a War gratuity for the period of such service; and what steps are being taken to grant them the same gratuity?

Sir A. WILLIAMSON

My right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. I am aware of the gratuity granted to officers of the Indian Army Reserve, and I am already in commu- nication with my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for India, on the subject. I am not aware of any such grant to regular officers of the Indian Army, and I do not contemplate any similar grant to officers of the British Army.
