HC Deb 29 November 1920 vol 135 cc948-9W
Mr. CLOUGH

asked the Minister of Labour whether divisional offices for the training branch could have been secured in a less costly neighbourhood than Belgrave Square; on what terms his Department have acquired 30, Belgrave Square; and for how long it is estimated the Department will require those premises?

Sir A. MOND

30, Belgrave Square was acquired by my Department on a quarterly tenancy at a rent of £600 per annum (exclusive of rates and taxes) for the accommodation of the Forestry Commission: but as they do not require the whole of the premises, the staff of the Divisional Director of Industrial Training and of the Local Finance Officer of the Ministry of Labour are accommodated on the second and third floors. This is a very economical arrangement, and no cheaper alternative is practicable. The accommodation will be required by the Ministry of Labour for so long as their training schemes continue, which will probably be not less than 18 months.
