§ Mr. R. McNEILLasked the Minister of Pensions if he is aware that G. J. Galvin, late Labour Corps, Xo. 305,517, appealed against the finding of a medical board that his disability was not the result of service, and that his appeal was heard by an appeal medical board on the 31st of August, 1920, when the board reversed the previous finding, and stated that a recommendation to that effect would be made to the appeal tribunal; why no further action has been taken in the case, of which the reference is 11 M. 18,295, and no disability pension yet awarded to Galvin; and, in view of the fact that the local war pensions committee stopped his treatment allowance 944W in May last and that through inability to obtain suitable employment Galvin is in very straitened circumstances, he will take steps to have the recommendation of the medical board carried into effect without further delay?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONThis man did not claim to be disabled when demobilised in February, 1919; subsequently, however, he preferred a claim to pension on the ground of rheumatism, but the medical board by which he was examined in November, 1919, found no disablement. In consequence of an appeal against the rejection of his claim, he was again medically examined on 31st August last, when some degree of disablement was found to exist. My technical advisers were, however, of opinion that the disability had no connection with service. The case was, therefore, prepared and forwarded to the Pensions Appeal Tribunal, by which authority it will, I am informed, be heard on the 6th December.
