HC Deb 29 November 1920 vol 135 c960W
Lieut.-Colonel CROFT

asked the Home Secretary the number of aliens from Eastern Europe who have been permitted to land in this country as permanent residents during this year?

Mr. SHORTT

I am not sure what countries should be included in the hon. and gallant Member's phrase "Eastern Europe," but he will find the fullest available statistics in regard to the landing and embarking of aliens in this country in the quarterly Returns laid before Parliament. From these Returns it will be seen that there is a large movement of aliens outwards as well as inwards, and later it may be possible by analysis of the figures to estimate the number of individuals who have come here to reside. At present, however, it is not possible to do so.
