HC Deb 26 November 1920 vol 135 cc807-8W
Mr. SWAN

asked the Prime Minister if he will, as soon as possible, make provision for putting into force by legislation the majority Report of the Committee of Inquiry on Old Age Pensions, so that all disqualifications be abolished, and that the principle of universal pensions be enacted so as to enable all applicants for, and recipients of, old age pensions to de rive the full benefit of their thrift and personal provision for their old age, and to receive assistance from friends, employers, organisations, etc., without reduction of or disentitlement to old age pension?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir. The Government are not prepared to adopt the course suggested in the question.
