HC Deb 25 November 1920 vol 135 c679W
Sir G. COLLINS

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Shipping if he is aware of the loss sustained by Mr. Thomas Kyle, of 11, St. Lawrence Street, Greenock, through the chartering of his steam yacht "Devon" a short time before the Armistice; is he aware that Mr. Kyle spent a considerable sum of money in having his yacht overhauled under Admiralty instructions; and will he grant Mr. Kyle suitable compensation?

Colonel WILSON

It is understood the possibility of chartering the yacht "Devon" was under consideration, over two years ago, by the Controller General of Merchant Shipbuilding, and no communication has, apparently, been received on the subject from the owner since about that date. The Department dealing with the matter has long ago been wound up, but I will have the records examined to see whether Government has any liability and will communicate with my hon. Friend.
