HC Deb 25 November 1920 vol 135 cc662-3W
Mr. ALFRED DAVIES (Clitheroe)

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the War Office whether clerks employed in record offices engaged prior to the 21st June, 1919, have received increases commensurate with the increased cost of living; whether ex-soldiers engaged subsequent to the 21st June, 1919, are not paid on the same scale and have not received any increase to meet the cost of living; and, if so, in view of the fact that all these clerks are engaged on the same class of work, will he state the reason for this difference?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I am not aware of the differentiation suggested. If the hon. Member will supply me with specific cases, I will make further inquiries into the matter.
