HC Deb 25 November 1920 vol 135 cc689-91W
Sir F. HALL

asked the Lord Privy Seal if the Government have any official

week ending 13th November as compared with the week ending 30th October; the number of these drawing unemployment donations; and how many of these men would not have been on the unemployed rolls had empty coal wagons been moved to their pits during the week ending 30th October instead of a week later

Dr. MACNAMARA

Figures for separate industries are not available for the week ending 30th October. Such figures were not recorded during the emergency caused by the coal strike. The corresponding figures for 15th October are therefore stated:

information showing that the new Greek Government propose to make arrangements for the ex-German Emperor to take up his residence at Corfu; if the undertakings and guarantee given by the Dutch Government would preclude their allowing the ex-Emperor to leave Holland; and if the Allies have communicated with the Dutch Government with the object of additional precautions being taken to prevent the project for his retirement to non-neutral territory being carried out?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The answer to the first and third parts of the question is in the negative, and to the second part in the affirmative.

Mr. LEONARD LYLE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the undertaking of the Netherlands Government safely to intern the ex-German Emperor is still valid, or whether the said ex-German Emperor is now, or shortly will be, free to accept the invitation of any ruler or nation willing to receive him?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

His Majesty's Government have no reason to doubt that the Netherlands Government are taking and will continue to take all necessary steps for the safe internment of the ex-Emperor William. The second part of the question does not therefore arise.
