RICHARDSONasked the Home Secretary if he will lay upon the Table of the House a copy of the whole of the Orders of the Central Control Board (Liquor Traffic) sought to be legalised by the Liquor Control (Temporary Provisions) Bill and a copy of the whole of the contracts entered into by the said Board for which the Bill proposes that the Home Office should take responsibility; and if he will present a statement of the powers of the Board which the Liquor Control (Temporary Provisions) Bill proposes to transfer to the Home Office.
§ Mr. SHORTTOwing largely to the numerous relaxations which have been made from time to time of the Orders in force in the various scheduled areas since, the date of the Armistice, it would not be useful or convenient to lay upon the Table all the Orders of the Board, but I will see whether I can assist hon. Members by laying some specimen or typical Orders, as now in force. It would be both impracticable and contrary to the public interest to lay copies of contracts entered into by the Board. The powers proposed to be transferred are contained in the Defence of the Realm (Liquor Control) Regulations. 1915, which have been pub-686W lished as Statutory Rules and Orders, and which are now, I hope, easily procurable by Members as the result of the special arrangements which I have already made for the purpose.
