HC Deb 23 November 1920 vol 135 c242W
Major HENDERSON

asked the Minister of Pensions whether the datum line of what constitutes a necessitous case, as laid down by the Special Grants Committee, is, or has been, subject to variation according to the rise or fall in the cost of living?

Major TRYON

My hon. and gallant Friend no doubt has in mind cases in which the discretionary powers of the Special Grants Committee are limited by a comparison between present income and pre-War income. In such cases the Committee are authorised to make allowance for the rise in prices.
