HC Deb 23 November 1920 vol 135 cc244-5W
Mr. LAWSON

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware that in 1913 Denmark was the only country which exported here more butter than Russia; and whether, in view of the present price and scarcity of butter, he is taking any steps to secure supplies from Russia?

Mr. McCURDY

I am aware of the fact to which the hon. Member refers. I have kept myself constantly informed as to the possibilities of restoring the important source of butter supplies to this country, and as a matter of fact, 300 tons of Siberian butter were landed here early this year. I have been unable to obtain any further supplies from Russian sources.
