HC Deb 22 November 1920 vol 135 c76W
Lieut.-Commander CHILCOTT

asked the Home Secretary the annual cost of preparing the list of jurors; whether this list is largely a duplication of the register of electors; and whether, in the interests of economy, the Government will consider the question of merging the jurors' and voters' lists into one?

Mr. SHORTT

I cannot say what is the total cost of preparing the lists of jurors for the different counties; it must have been greatly increased this year by the addition of women to the lists. There are wide variations between the two lists, and they cannot be described as duplicates; but the question whether any economy can be effected by preparing the two lists together will be further considered.
