Lieut.-Colonel GUINNESSasked the Minister of Food whether he will give an estimate of the approximate loss which would be involved if stocks of flour now held under the Food Control were to be sold at current market prices?
§ Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSONIt is difficult to estimate the approximate loss to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers, since up till now there has been no current market price for flour. During last week, however, considerable quantities of flour were, I understand, purchased on private account, and if my hon. and gallant Friend will repeat his question in a week's time, I will endeavour to ascertain and inform him how the average c.i.f. price of these purchases compares with the average cost of stocks now held under Food Control.
