§ Lieut.- Colonel HURSTasked the Minister of Pensions, whether he is aware that Mrs. Rose Ann Walton, of No. 9, Ripon Street, Moss Side, Manchester, put forward a claim for pension, A/P.2314 and D.P.3/40,568, in respect of the death of her son, Private A. Walton, No. 275,637, 7th Manchesters, through the local pensions committee on 14th May, 1919; that reminders were sent by the committee to the Director-General of Awards on 20th March and 9th October, 1920; that no response has been received; and when the case will be considered?.
§ Major TRYONThe official papers in this case were despatched to the Region on the 15th November, but appear to have miscarried in the post as up to the pre sent, they have not been received at the Region. Full investigation is being made, and I hope to be in a position to commu- 61W nicate with my hon. and gallant Friend in the course of a few days.
§ Lieut.- Colonel HURSTasked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that the Manchester local committee submitted the claim (D. P. 3/10,151) of Mrs. Sarah Jane Paine to dependant's pension in respect of the death of her son, Private E. J. Paine, No. 61,777, King's Liverpool Regiment, deceased, as long ago as 2nd December, 1919; that this lady is in urgent want and that many successive appeals for an early award have been sent in vain to 28, Sloane Square by the local committee, by the relatives of the lady, and by a local doctor; and whether he will direct immediate action to be taken?
§ Major TRYONConsideration of this claim was necessarily deferred pending a decision on a general question of entitlement. The difficulty has now been removed, and Mrs. Paine's claim to pension will be decided at an early date.
