§ Mr. BENNETTasked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that a number of East Indian store clerks formerly resident in the Philippine Islands have, on returning from visits to India, been denied by the American customs officials at Manilla permission to land at that port; and, seeing that no allegations have been made against the character and conduct of these people, whether he will make such inquiries and representations on the subject as he may think necessary?
