§ Dr. MACNAMARAIn the majority of the returns on unemployment furnished to the Ministry of Labour by employers and trade unions provision is made for the inclusion of statements as to the causes of unemployment in the various trades reported on. I have no compulsory powers of obtaining such information, but I take this opportunity of expressing my appreciation of the voluntary assistance rendered to me in this respect by so many employers of labour and trade union secretaries.
