DAVIESasked the Minister of Pensions whether there has been any re-organisation of the office of his 608W Ministry during the past three months; whether any economy in personnel or cost has resulted; and, if not, whether it is proposed to undertake any re-organisation within the coming three months?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONThere has been no general re-organisation of the Ministry during the past three months, but the question of effecting economies is under constant and careful consideration. Apart from the staff employed in hospitals and institutions which are concerned with the care and treatment of disabled men, and represent additional work which has been, and is being, gradually taken over from the War Office, the staff of the Ministry has been decreased during the past three months by 500, and further reductions are in prospect. On the last part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Bridge-ton (Mr. M. Scott) on the 28th ultimo.
