§ Mr. WISEasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland what is the outlook for the potato crop in Ireland; whether it will be sufficient to provide the Irish population; and, if the price is high, whether he can take steps to bring the price within the means of the poorer classes of the people in Ireland?
§ Sir H. GREENWOODThe Department see no reason to believe that the total production of potatoes in Ireland this season will be insufficient to provide for the Irish population and to leave a surplus for export. The question of regulating prices will be considered should the necessity arise.
