HC Deb 06 May 1920 vol 128 c2256W
Mr. ALFRED T. DAVIES

asked the Minister of Health how many public authorities now possess plant for the recovery of fats from sewage; and what steps, if any, are being taken by the Ministry to prevent fats so obtained from being used for the manufacture of foodstuffs, e.g., margarine?

Dr. ADDISON

So far as I am aware, there are only four local authorities which possess plants for the recovery of fats from sewage on a large scale. I have no reason to suppose that the fat recovered in these cases is used in the manufacture of foodstuffs. If my hon. Friend has any information on the subject, I shall be glad to be supplied with it.
