Mr. ALFRED T. DAVIESasked the Minister of Health how many public authorities now possess plant for the recovery of fats from sewage; and what steps, if any, are being taken by the Ministry to prevent fats so obtained from being used for the manufacture of foodstuffs, e.g., margarine?
§ Dr. ADDISONSo far as I am aware, there are only four local authorities which possess plants for the recovery of fats from sewage on a large scale. I have no reason to suppose that the fat recovered in these cases is used in the manufacture of foodstuffs. If my hon. Friend has any information on the subject, I shall be glad to be supplied with it.
