HC Deb 05 May 1920 vol 128 c2099W
Sir F. HALL

asked the Lord Privy Seal if, in view of the conflicting reports as to the industrial condition of Germany, and the steps being taken by employers and labour organisations alike to re-establish trade and commerce, the Government will take steps to obtain from its representatives in Germany as full a report as possible regarding the position of affairs, with information as to the number of men employed in various industries, the hours worked, and other relevant particulars?

Mr. BONAR LAW

A report of industrial and commercial conditions in Germany at the close of the year 1919 will shortly be published. Commercial Commissioners are stationed at Berlin and Cologne. They will report periodically on the conditions in Germany, and the information contained in these reports will be made as generally known as possible. I cannot, however, promise that they will contain all the detailed information indicated in the question, but efforts will be made to render them as complete as possible.
