HC Deb 05 May 1920 vol 128 cc2095-6W
Colonel ASHLEY

asked the Minister of Health whether the Registrar-General has received a communication from the Falmouth Board of Guardians to the effect that they are prepared to rescind the minute recommending that their clerk should be appointed to the position of registrar, in order that the position may be given to an ex-service man; and whether, in view of the Government's wish that preference shall be given for such appointments by local authorities to ex-service men, he will accept this offer and convey to the clerk his appreciation of the action he has taken in the matter by placing himself unreservedly in the hands of the Guardians?

Dr. ADDISON

I understand that the appointment of Superintendent Registrar will be further considered by the Guardians, but no decision has, so far as I am aware, yet been arrived at, or offer made, by them. I will, however, com- municate with the hon. and gallant Member as soon as I am in a position to do so.
