HC Deb 04 May 1920 vol 128 cc1913-4W
Mr. RAWLINSON

asked the Minister of Food whether his attention has been called to the fact that certain schoolmasters occupying large kitchen gardens have been refused the extra ration of sugar for the purpose of making jam, on the ground that they are caterers; and whether he will take steps to remedy this, obvious injustice?

Mr. McCURDY

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. It is not the intention of my Department that boarding schools should be classed as catering establishments for the purposes of the scheme for the distribution of sugar for domestic preserving of fruit, and if the hon. Member will furnish particulars of any case where supplies to a school have been refused on the grounds stated I will have immediate inquiry made into the matter.
