asked the Secretary of State for War and Air what are the numbers of Allied troops now in the occupied zones of Germany; and how many of these are black troops?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The approximate numbers of Allied troops in the Armies of Occupation in Germany are:—

Great Britain 14,000
France 95,000

(In addition, there is one Division (European) stationed temporarily in the Rheinbach area.)

United States 16,000
Belgium 15,000

(Excluding certain Lines of Communication troops.)

As regards the last part of the question, the French forces include 7,500 coloured Colonial troops, including one Brigade of Senegalese. There are no other coloured troops.
