HC Deb 03 May 1920 vol 128 cc1722-3W
Mr. REMER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions how many persons were employed by his Department at the signing of the Armistice; how many at the present time; and when his Department will be closed down completely?

Mr. HOPE

The headquarters staff at the date of the Armistice numbered 25,144. The number on Thursday last was 5,546, but this includes 568 engaged on services transferred from the War Office since the Armistice. The true figures of comparison are therefore 25,144 and 4,978. With regard to the last part of the question, I am not in a position to add anything to the statement which I made to the House on the 15th April.
