HC Deb 29 March 1920 vol 127 cc913-4W
Mr. CLOUGH

asked the Prime Minister whether, apart from financial considerations and without prejudice to legislation before the House, the Government will in future consider the equalisation of all State insurance benefits to both men and women?

The PRIME MINISTER

The amount of benefit, as the hon. Member will appreciate, must depend upon the amount of contribution, and the view of the Government is that under present circumstances the same amount of contribution cannot be imposed on women as on men.
