HC Deb 29 March 1920 vol 127 c898W
Sir R. BLADES

asked the Minister of Food whether, in view of the announcement of the Ministry of Food that English hams are to be de-controlled on the, 31st instant, free exportation without restrictions will be allowed and thus enable this important export trade to be regained?

Mr. PARKER

In view of the fact that supplies of English hams are insufficient for the home trade the Food Controller cannot agree to the free exportation, without restriction, of these hams, since such a policy would undoubtedly lead to excessive prices to the consumer in this country.
