§ Mr. CLYNESasked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware of the dissatisfaction existing amongst the temporary clerks employed by the Ministry at Manchester owing to the totally inadequate rates of pay; that 90 per cent. of the temporary staff are receiving the lowest rate, although doing the same class of work in many instances as the higher grades; and whether he will have inquiries made into these men's grievances?
§ Sir J. CRAIGThe scales of pay of the Ministry staff in Manchester are those approved by the Treasury for the temporary clerical staff of all Government Departments. These scales are under consideration, and it is expected that an official announcement on the subject will very shortly be made.
