Wheat … … 2,370,367 acres. Barley … … 1,870,087 acres. The maximum prices, subject to certain allowances, of the 1918 crops of wheat and barley were, at the date of decontrol of barley (14th August, 1919) 76s. 6d. per quarter of 504 lbs. (72s. 10d. per quarter of 480 lbs.) and 67s. per quarter of 448 lbs. (59s. 10d. per quarter of 400 lbs.) respectively. The average prices of British wheat and barley in the week ending 6th March, 1920, as computed from returns received under the Corn Returns Act, 1882, were 72s. 6d. per quarter of 480 lbs. and 95s. 5d. per quarter of 400 lbs. respectively.
