HC Deb 28 June 1920 vol 131 cc47-8W

Colonel ASHLEY asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland what was the sum awarded on 10th June at Ennis by His Honour Judge Bodkin to the Representative Church Body and the select vestry of Drumcliffe, Ennis, for the malicious burning of Clare Castle Protestant Church; what were the findings of the learned Judge as to the motives of this outrage; and over what area will the compensation money be levied?

Mr. HENRY: The County Court Judge awarded £1,000 compensation together with £29 8s. 0d. for expenses in this case. The Judge found that the premises were maliciously burned, and the amount will be levied over the county at large.
