§ Mr. W. COOTEasked the President of the Board of Trade, if he is aware that the German Government have issued instructions prohibiting the import and sale of British goods in the occupied territory, contracts for which had been placed by German importers with British manufacturers for months prior to the date of the instructions and that, in some cases, the goods were in German territory at the date of the order and will not be deliverd, and will he state what protection British exporters will have for their trade?
§ Sir R. HORNEI am aware that the extension to the occupied territory of the system of import control imposed in unoccupied Germany has given rise to difficulties. My Department are, however, in correspondence with the Foreign Office on the whole question, and my hon. Friend may rest assured that we shall do everything in our power to safeguard the legitimate interests of British exporters.
