§ Mr. R. YOUNGasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of 257W Agriculture if he is aware that two of the appointed members of the Suffolk District Wages Committee have applied for certificates of exemption for some of their workers; whether he will take steps to terminate their appointment on the Committee; and how many appointed members there are on the District Wages Committees who employ workers who come under the Regulations of the Agricultural Wages Board?
Sir A. BOSCAWENThe statement in the first part of the question is correct, but the Minister is not prepared to terminate the appointment of the members referred to on the ground that they employ persons employed in Agriculture within the meaning of the Act. It is not possible to state, without personal inquiry in each case, how many of the appointed members on the 39 District Committees may be in this position.
