HC Deb 07 July 1920 vol 131 cc1469-70W
Mr. RONALD McNEILL

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware that his recent statements respecting the treatment of the Glasgow Relief Mission by the Serbs in Montenegro have caused widespread dissatisfaction among the subscribers to the relief funds in Glasgow and elsewhere, who understand his statements to mean that the humanitarian efforts of British sympathisers with a starving population can look for no assistance from His Majesty's Government; and what assistance the Government is prepared to give to the mission to enable them to administer the relief?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I am sure my hon. and learned Friend is mistaken in supposing that the subscribers to this Mission entertain doubts as to the humanitarian intentions of His Majesty's Government. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer my hon. and learned friend to my reply to him on 28th June.
