Captain BROWNasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if ho can give an assurance with regard to the possible taxation of increases of wealth during the war period that it is not the intention of the Government to tax increases inherited in the usual way during the period, provided the original estate or inherited portions thereof do not in themselves show any war increase?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI think it is undesirable that I should make any further statements on this subject, now that it is actually under consideration by the Select Committee, except when required to do so by the Committee itself.
